Here’s a brief self-analysis that can shed light on specifically what we allow ourselves to think or say about others:
Harbor the kinds of thoughts regarding each person you know so that if anyone you know — while knowing your thoughts — were to come to church and see an empty seat beside you, he or she would be delighted to sit by you.
Say the kinds of things about each person you know so that if anyone in your life — knowing all you say about him or her — were to come to church and see an empty seat beside you, he or she would gladly take that seat.
