In yesterday’s podcast I indicated that every good thing that we could ever need or want came to us wrapped up in those strips of cloth — that baby in the feed box.
In Jesus, all we could ever want or need has been already poured out. Why is it that we may not be enjoying God's provision? It has nothing to do with anyone in our lives nor anything going on in our circumstances. It has to do with our blocking the flow in one way or another.
How do we do that?
Here are three ways that come to mind:
Barrier #1 — turning a blind eye to how desperate our heart condition is. We see ourselves as “good folk” so what do we need God’s forgiveness or compassion and help for?
Barrier #2 — ignorance of the fact that God is pure helpfulness — that he is wholeheartedly, lovingly, delightfully and uniquely interested in us, in meeting all our needs and solving all our problems.
Barrier #3 — still thinking we need to take ownership of ourselves to meet our needs and desires and solve our problems instead of just belonging to Jesus — spirit, soul, mind, and body — after which we live trusting him to fill us with his answers as he cares for what is his and uses what is his however he pleases.
