Description

One of the biggest words in the Bible pertaining to all that God wants to see happening to us is the word “transformed.” It is the word used to describe what Jesus experienced on the so-called “Mount of Transfiguration” where we read that Jesus “was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.” Matthew 17:2

This same word then appears in Romans 12:2, “be transformed by the renewing of your mind,” and again in 2 Corinthians 3:18, “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

In this last passage, the plan is revealed: we are being transformed from what we are into what Jesus is with ever-increasing glory. And we are also informed as to how it happens: by “contemplating the Lord’s glory.”

Just what is his glory? In short, it is whatever we see in Jesus that makes him worthy of our total and undivided devotion. The key word being worthy. Now ask yourself, what do I know of Jesus that — beyond all doubt — makes him worthy of my complete devotion?

I suggest to you that your answer to that is the amount of awareness of Christ’s glory that God has presently given you. And the more you focus your attention on that glory, the more transformed into his image you are becoming.
