Here’s what I consider to be one of the most important truths in the Bible to take to heart: Romans 8:32 — “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”

Think of the most loving, self-giving person you know. When needed, you have benefited at every turn in your life by that person‘s thoughtfulness, patience, and encouragement. He or she has been there for you at all times, eager to help you and see you become everything you can be.

Now think: Do you have to be commanded to love that person?

The fact that we have to be commanded to love God is perhaps the most tragic commentary that could be made on the depths of human ignorance.

“Oh how he loves you and me,

Oh how he loves you and me,

He gave his life, what more could he give?

Oh how he loves you and me.”
