In John 5:30 Jesus says to his antagonists: “By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.”
See if this makes sense to you: it would seem to follow that to the extent that we can say with Jesus, “I seek not to please myself but him who sent me,” then our assessment of the stuff of life — life’s decisions, behaviors, or lifestyles will be clear-eyed and just.
Think about that. Why might that be so?
