Ephesians 3:18, 19 — Paul prays that we “may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
There’s no doubt in my mind that a love this intense seeks each of us out day and night, from the moment we wake up, all through the day, when we go to bed, and even through the night.
And what does he want?
- He wants to carry every burden in your life and free you of all concern by being the one who you look to to resolve it.
- He wants to bear all your griefs and sorrows and be the one who carries the tormenting anguish of it all.
- He wants you to talk to him about every problem you’re facing and ask him for wisdom to make the right decision.
- He wants you to give up thinking you know what’s best for you and listen to him instead and trust him to meet your need.
- He wants you to confess your weaknesses and sins to him and receive his forgiveness and full acceptance and restful peace.
- He wants you to abandon all regrets in your life, that is, learn what you can from them, and then move on.
- He wants you to step into the scene of your life each day excited about all that’s on his heart for you — all the ways he wants to surprise you with blessings.
- He wants you to trust his promise to always be with you and always help you so that you never worry or are afraid.
- He wants you to know that no one cherishes your family and friends as much as he does so that you will not fear for them.
- He wants you to know that no one knows how to encourage and help the people in your life like he does so that you practice listening to him for what to say and do.
- He wants you to realize that the most important part of any relationship in your life is the amount of his patience, kindness, and helpfulness your words and actions reveal to that person.
- He wants you to always remember that your success in life is determined by the amount of his love and will your life reveals to others.
In Jude 1:21 we read, “keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.” In other words, let him have his way with you.
