“…You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you,” Jesus said, “and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the farthest parts of the earth.” Acts 1:8 (NET 2nd Ed.)
We tend to associate being witnesses with saying things, and no doubt it includes that. But the bigger witness is a transformed life. Our loving God wants us to live with a settled confidence that there is a power at work in our lives today that is greater than our failures, weaknesses, and sins, and who is going to redeem everything we would think is beyond repair. To know that means constant peace and joy. And in a world like this, that is a powerful witness.
