Sandra Smith Gangle joins the podcast as a (remote) interview guest. Sandra Smith Gangle is an author of a recently released book titled “Madam Arbitrator”. In her book Sandra Smith Gangle tells a compelling story of a woman who overcame many obstacles to achieve her dream of becoming a lawyer. Sandra observed her mother suffer from discrimination in job-seeking, housing, and banking practices. Gangle vowed to make a difference for others through practicing law. When Gangle graduated from college in 1964, she became a foreign language teacher and college instructor for a dozen years and continued to seek the opportunity to attend law school. Married and the mother of two, she earned her law degree in 1980 and opened a solo law practice, embarking on a successful thirty-seven-year legal career that emphasized employment discrimination matters. Ultimately, Gangle was the first Oregon woman to serve as a full-time labor arbitrator throughout the Pacific Northwest.
