Description

In this episode, I discuss a topic I've never talked about on Boss Ladies Connect before- Domestic violence. As we use this month to be intentional about loving ourselves and understanding our self- worth, I thought it would be great to share the story of a dear friend. Aisha Babilonia shares her story of domestic violence, incarceration, and redemption. She is transparent and informative about her experience.  Aisha M. Babilonia is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Habakkuk's Vision Charitable Ministries. She birthed Habakkuk's Vision in 2018, with a mission to impact and support formerly incarcerated individuals and families in overcoming the trials associated with incarceration along with providing a place of refuge and support for victims of Domestic Violence.  It has been her vision to provide support to those transitioning back into society after years of confinement. Specifically, seeking to address the vicious cycles of homelessness, poverty, and abuse that are pervasive.

Prior to her role as Founder and Executive Director of Habakkuk's Vision, Aisha herself experienced incarceration, after being the victim of domestic violence for many years. It is from her trials and tribulations navigating life after incarceration that she became inspired to help similarly situated individuals in need. Aisha currently serves on the Board of Directors for the African University of Creative Arts in the United Kingdom. She works closely with local, not for profits health care agencies that aid HIV/AIDS, Homeless, and substance abuse clients. As a former Registered Nurse for the State of New York, she has used her clinical and social background to create policies and procedures, risk assessments and identify gaps in care, for health care agencies that serve the community.

In addition, Aisha is a published author of spiritual prayer and meditation devotionals. Her most recent publication, "Start the day with God," has been lauded by many as an inspirational guide for the formerly incarcerated, helping many to maintain their faith and rebuild their lives. Aisha holds Bachelors's degrees in both Business Management/ Economics and Nursing. She is a proud graduate of  SUNY Empire State University and Rutgers University/UMDNJ School of Nursing. Aisha is also a beloved Auntie and like a mother to many.
