Starter: Who do you find easy to love? Who do you find is difficult to love? Why?
1. Read Matthew 5:43-45
2. How would you define “enemy?” How does it make you feel to think about loving them?
3. Have you ever prayed for someone you think is not your friend? What happened?
4. Read John 15:12-16
5. How do you react to commands? Do you accept them, or accept them as suggestions, or ignore them? If Jesus was rating your obedience to his command to love, how would you score on a scale of 1-100? (100 is high)
6. Jesus’ model of love is to sacrifice. Share a time you sacrificed because you loved. Have you every sacrificed because of love for someone you didn’t know well? How did that feel?
7. If you were ultimately secure in the knowledge that God loved you, what difference would it make in your life?
