Being the only hearing member of her family, Ruby has interpreted for her them for her whole life. On top of that, often times, she's busy juggling between her life helping her family's fishing business, and balancing her school schedule. When her secret passion to sing leads her to joining her high school's choir, her teacher Mr. Villalobos instills newfound confidence within her that she becomes ultimately torn between her duties to her family or at a shot at an opportunity to do the things she loves.
