Is there a story holding you back from being your best self?
Are there any you've experienced when you were younger that still affect you today?
Do you have any fears?
Rejection? I’m not good enough. It’s not okay to be angry. I have to keep the peace.
Today is for you if:
The story in our mind becomes the story in our lives.
When I saw the patterns in my old story, I could see what was holding me back from being fully me and stepping into all God’s called me to.
What’s your story?
1. Write your old story down.
Set a timer for 20 - 30 minutes and start writing the major (or minor) events in your life that affected you–good and bad.
Try to come up with at least five good and five negative events.
Who are the people who helped you, and who are the people who hindered or hurt you?
2. Look for patterns.
Look for the themes or patterns in your story.
For me, my issues came down to imagination (fear of getting hurt), intimacy (fear of rejection), and identity (fear of never measuring up).
3. Interrogate your story.
Have these patterns affected you through the years?
How have they kept you safe or helped you?
How have they hurt you or held you back?
You can't fix what you don't know is an issue. So uncover that story.
Next episode, we’ll learn how to rewrite our stories so we can overcome what’s holding us back and change our future.
You got this!
