Our culture sends different messages about parenting and children to us at different stages of our lives. Single women are told children are a hindrance to their best life, be your child's best friend, one child is too little but four is too much as well as a host of others. In most of these conversations it is taken for granted that children matter but what about parents? Do parents matter and if they do, why do they matter?
