The introductory episode of You Meet in a Café, a podcast in which we discuss the many challenges that come of pursuing a fulfilling personal narrative and defining one's character development intentionally. Utilizing things like The Hero's Journey, Tabletop Gaming, Science Fiction and Fantasy alongside comic book canon, we will discuss what it means to pursue your goals.
But those are all in later episodes. For this episode, I simply introduce myself and Call to A Mentor, the companion blog and coaching service from which this podcast stems. Now who am I and what is Call to a Mentor? I am Caitilin, and I am a Life Coach in Training. I love science fiction, fantasy, and horror and have been long fascinated by the way narrative defines characters and vice versa. Call to a Mentor was born out of that love. Call to a Mentor is a coaching service that utilizes the conventions from the Hero's Journey, musicals, science fiction and fantasy to help people create a life that they chose. In essence, Call to a Mentor helps you put yourself back in the narrative. No need to worry; Neither potions, nor ray guns, nor staring off into the middle distance and singing your feelings will be required.
It also happens that the only quiet, semi-private place I could record had a fair amount of vehicle noise. I cut as much of it as I could, I do apologize.
