Description

Welcome back to But What Do We Know! This week, Zoe and Daniel celebrate the poll participation that's been seen on instagram and discuss the conversations they've had with peers regarding the catcalling episodes. Daniel, a Guyanese immigrant and Zoe, a Black Bi-racial American discuss the ever-present tension between their respective racial groups. There has long been competition within the African diaspora and it can especially be seen between Black Caribbeans and Black Americans. We attempt to unpack what might be causing this tension as we discuss socioeconomic status, stereotypes passed down by grandparents, and how we have seen these harmful paradigms in action within our own generation. This topic hits close to home for us as well as for many of our listeners. We are not experts nor the gospel on this topic but we are so eager to hear what our listeners think about this! Feel free to shoot us a message on instagram - all discussions are welcome. Happy listening!
