Here I speak to Professor Studd who is one of the worlds most experienced Gynaecologists. I always knew there was a link between hormonal acne, PMDD and Post Natal Depression/Psychosis that possibly need hormonal treatments and not anti depressants but frighteningly enough a lot of GP's and psychiatrists are not making this link! There are women dying, mothers taking their own lives and their children's lives because they feel hopeless. YOU need to take the power back and start questioning things if something isn't working for your emotional wellbeing. I have always refuted the idea that you can just acquire a mental illness after having a baby (post natal depression/psychosis) and am on a mission to better educate myself and share my learnings. We had a good chat, he takes no prisoners, he even called my introduction flawed! 
In 2008 he was awarded the Blair Bell Gold Medal of the Royal Society of Medicine which is given every five years for the obstetrician/gynaecologist who has made the greatest lifetime contribution to the specialty.
