Very often, teachers – unwittingly or not – make their students dependent upon them, instead of doing what any excellent teacher should in fact do: namely, to guide the pupil towards true independence in the area concerned. For it is only thus that the student may become truly creative in that field, and make more significant contributions to it throughout his or her life.
