Description

Santiago, Chile, September 11, 1973, the presidency of the democratically elected Salvador Allende comes to a screeching halt. For the next 17 years the campesinos and pueblos and workers alike, all sympathizers of their fallen hero and the ideology he stood for, will undergo the long Chilean night; Barbarism, torture, exile, suppression and repression, all funded and guided under the auspices of the US. It is within this framework that we delve into one of the greatest historical documentaries to grace the screen, La Batalla de Chile, or The Battle of Chile, directed by Patricio Guzman. Join us as we discuss the obstinate memory that is Chile, and the overwhelming humanity rendered from the people who fought against tyranny, as we analyze historical parallels between a blooming workers consciousness of the past and its persistence into a present day political system.

The Battle of Chile (Struggle of people Without Arms) : Part 1 The Insurrection of the Bourgeoisie (‘75), Part 2 The Coup D’etat (‘76), Part 3 The Power of the People (‘79).
