Joey (Baquiran), a Ph.D Filipino (Panitikan) holder, is an Associate Professor VII of the Department of Filipino and Philippine Literature at the College of Arts and Letters, University of the Philippines Diliman. He is a recipient of the Pambansang Gawad ni Balagtas, awarded by the Writers Union of the Philippines and the 2011 South East Asia Writers Prize, Bangkok Thailand. Currently, he is the director of UP Likhaan Institute of Creative Writing.
