Had the opportunity to speak with my Hamptonian sister, Melanie E. Bates, Esq. to discuss Criminal Justice Reform. We are living in a time where unarmed black men and woman are being gunned down by law enforcement what seems like every other week. Melanie shares her story from when she was wrongfully arrested for something she did not do and how that incident birth her desire to get her law degree at North Carolina Central in order for her to serve the unprivileged and marginalized.
Melanie started her consulting 5 years ago and has been able to accomplish so many great work in the community. She has educated and empowered many people to know their rights as a public speaker.
This episode is going to provide insight on the root of injustice and the education on how to handle yourself if ever in a position of facing injustice from law enforcement.
