Description

Gina Tomlinson is experienced TV personality working and living out her dream in the Sunshine State. Born just outside of Detroit, Gina graduated with a Bachelors in Broadcasting from Central Michigan University and promptly applied her skills reporting for CMU’s news team and as an intern at WZZM 13 in Grand Rapids. Tomlinson then packed up and went South to WXXV in Gulfport, Mississippi, excited to begin her career there as a reporter and fill-in anchor. When Hurricane Nate hit the gulf coast in 2017, Tomlinson delivered live reports following the tropical storm throughout the night, helping the station succeed in it's very first time undergoing wall-to-wall coverage. Keeping the local community informed has always been Gina’s driving passion, the impact of this being realized when one of her first interviews at WXXV exposed a criminal and reopened an investigation on behalf of the victim's family.

On to a bigger station at WINK news in Fort Myers, Tomlinson covered a wide variety of stories from breaking news and exclusives, to feature stories and weather-related events. When the water crisis hit in 2018, Tomlinson lead the news coverage from the beaches of Southwest Florida, bringing the latest updates as toxic algae and red tide plagued the local waterways. In early 2020, Tomlinson took on a new role as the station’s Collier County Bureau Reporter. When the Covid-19 pandemic began to ravage the state, Gina kept the residents of Southwest Florida informed and up to date with breaking news while the world around us suddenly changed. Her coverage included reports from local hospitals, from business owners affected by shutdowns, from city councils regarding mask mandates, and from local citizens on their thoughts as unprecedented events unfolded in real-time. Tomlinson's stories at Wink have helped expose criminals, find stolen items and put justice back in the right hands of those needing their voice to be heard,

Tomlinson is currently involved in freelance projects, both locally and out of state. She has been an emcee for special events and has helped sponsor local fundraisers. Being the proud mom of an overly-spoiled but hilarious cat named Kokomo, she loves to be doing anything outdoors especially running, yoga, hiking, biking and boating. Most important to Tomlinson is her determination to see the positive in any situation and she isn’t afraid to take a risk, knowing that something valuable will be learned no matter what the outcome.
