Demetrius Witherspoon carries the torch of science fictions legends like Gene Rodenberry, George Lucas and John Willimas into the world of independent film with his Submerge Universe. The Bardstown, Kentucky born digital wizard started his career as an R&B crooner with his impressive debut album "LaSean", but ultimately applied his multitude of talents and a life long fascination with the final frontier of deep space to filmmaking. As a reward for this decision, Demetrius has seen his sci fi franchise achieve lofty cult appeal, and some of his talent go on to appear in projects like "The Walking Dead" and "The Mandelorean". In our interview, he recounts the time he dined with his boyhood heros of "Battlestar Galactica", how and why strong female characters have graced his canon and why the Star Wars franchise continues to set the standard for his genre.
