We are consistently putting repetition, idols, meaningless, and mindless actions above all the teachings of Christ our Lord. Because we idolize the ways of our "forefathers" like Abraham, Moses, Joshua, and many other "men", who fell too, we missed what our Lord God was trying to teach us. We've adopted religiosity over the relationship that God intended to build with us and we overlooked the true nature of what love looks like. This is why Christ had to shut down our frame of thinking and made it linear again. How have you missed Him (or love) also?
