Soul City is an anthology series following in the footsteps of shows like The Twilight Zone, Amazing Stories and Tales from the Crypt, which streams on Topic. The show was created by long time friends Coodie and Chike that decided to set season one of Soul City in the multicultural hub of New Orleans, where things often go bump in the night.
You may be familiar with their work having been the acclaimed directors of Kanye West’s Through the Wire music video and ESPN’s 30 for 30 film Benji. Episodes feature Omar J. Dorsey (Queen Sugar), Chad Coleman (The Wire), and PJ Morton (Maroon 5).
We spoke with Coodie and Chike about having grown up in both Chicago and New Orleans respectively, how they stay true to their Christian faith and their ability to avoid evil spirits when filming a series that touches upon darker forces from the other world.
