Coming up on the weekend of the 16th of July is a great event for local heritage and architecture enthusiasts. It's the Great Houses of Charters Towers open day where three iconic houses in the town will open their doors for tourists to have a look and marvel at the design of these great houses. There will also be Antiques and Heirlooms afternoon tea at the Civic Club on Saturday afternoon July 15th as well as a ghost tour of the cemetery. I spoke to Great Houses of Charters Towers committee president Trudy Brown about the weekend.
