Clark Phillips was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and has spent the last 13 years in New York City and Los Angeles as a hairstylist and artist. He is currently based and working in Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico. Before establishing himself in the beauty and fashion industry he was a performer in the band Electric Tickle Machine that he formed on St. Marks Place in lower Manhattan.
