Description

Join hosts Josh and Dwayne in this episode as they reflect on their gratitude for the 2023 NFL season and share their New Year's resolutions for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Josh is thankful for the Super Bowl LVII victory over the Eagles, which brought the Chiefs' total Super Bowl wins to three, tying them with the Broncos and Raiders. He also highlights his appreciation for the improved performance of the Chiefs' defense, a previously suspect area during the Mahomes era.

Dwayne brings his gratitude for defensive coordinator Spags and their defense's top-three ranking in the league. He adds relief that Mahomes remained uninjured despite bad blocking this season. He further acknowledges the successful Rashee Rice pick and the stellar performance of Mike Dana on the defensive line.

Looking ahead to the new year, Josh's resolution for the Chiefs is to lean on their strong defense and carry that momentum into the playoffs, and calls for creating more turnovers. Additionally, he has a bonus resolution for the NFL itself, calling for improved officiating and consistency. Josh draws from a previous column he wrote for Arrowhead One, where he compared NFL officials to a struggling division in a large company. He suggests that officials should become full-time and accountable or explore technological solutions such as chipped balls and laser technology.

Dwayne's New Year's resolution focuses on the Chiefs' roster. He urges general manager Brett Veach to sign a prominent free-agent wide receiver in Mike Evans, who would provide additional support for tight end Kelce. If Kelce decides to retire, Evans could easily step into the WR1 role. Dwayne also emphasizes the importance of re-signing Sneed and acquiring another running back to complement Pacheco following the departures of McKinnon and Helaire.
