In chapters 5 and 6 of the book Gentleman Jim by Mimi Mathews, we learn more about St Clare's past and Amy blows Beth's mind with some of her far out conspiracy theories of where Nick has been for the last 10 years. Amy and Beth try to break down the appeal of a thin, sickly body type and they also really try to find a sliver of chemistry between our two main characters. Also, we really try to understand Maggie's thought process and why she makes such baffling choices.
Here are some of our wagers/predictions at this point in the story:
- Nick is St Clare but suffering from amnesia, which is why he doesn't seem to remember Maggie
- St Clare's grandfather has molded Nick to be his legitimate grandson in order to inherit and carry on the family line (he is either legitimately the heir, or some random person the grandfather picked off the street to inherit)
