If you are just joining us in our reading of How to Wake a Sleeping Lady by Bree Wolf, available through Amazon Kindle (you can read for free with a Kindle Unlimited subscription), here is what you may have missed so far:

Our hero, Grant - or more formally Lord Wentford - gave our heroine, Agnes Bottombrook, a new nickname and proposed marriage after exchanging only a few sentences and one dance with her at a ball (this sums up the prologue). Jump forward seven years and surprisingly this did not scare off Agnes, now dubbed "Nessa", because we find out they did marry and have a daughter. But tragically Nessa died three years previously in a carriage accident and Grant is now married to a sweet young thing named Eugenie (this sums up Chapter 1). But TWIST - Grant's presumed dead wife might actually be living in an abbey with amnesia, where she has been for the last three years. Grant is worried he and his family, specifically his former father-in-law (Nessa's father) can't take another disappointment by chasing down a potentially false lead (this all comes out in Chapter 2). It has been a roller coaster ride for sure and our snarky sisters are on the edge of their seats y'all!

In this episode we continue the saga with Chapter 3 in which we are introduced to Martha who has no memory of her life preceding the events she has experienced living at the abbey for the last three years. We learn she was pulled from the sea by fishermen and inexplicably survived. Is the lack of details intentional because there is something dark and nefarious going on? Or did the author just not know how to explain how she miraculously survived so she has intentional left it vague. It is maddening!

Martha was presumably left at the abbey to recuperate and bide her time until someone comes to claim her. She thought that day would never come until she is notified that someone is looking for her - her father. It is a chapter of much self-reflection as Martha has a lot to consider and think upon before meeting someone she has no memory of and potentially returning to a life of the unknown. Listen in to find out if Martha is in fact Nessa or if our hero will be going home with bad news and a broken heart once again.

When we last left Grant, he was preparing to travel to Granville Abby to find out if the woman who has lived there for the last three years is in fact his long lost love Nessa. We have only thought running through our heads - If Nessa is alive then our hero has some 'esplaining to do' because it is going to be a tricky and messy situation if he finds himself suddenly with two wives.
