This week's episode we dive deep into the book The Truth About Cats and Dukes. . . No, that's not right BUT we think that would be a hilarious book! A Duke and his 12 cats, I would read about that hero. Seriously, someone write that book.
Instead in this episode our Snarky Sisters talk about the book The Truth About Cads and Dukes by Elisa Braden. Unfortunately there are no cats in this book but there are some serious cads (no joke - these Regency men were not good men or gentle in any way) and there is definitely a duke (and he doesn't let us forget it, ever).
As always, we explore our feelings on the characters and the plot and talk about what went well and what fell flat. We also address questions on all sorts of important things like . . . How do you say Marchioness in French, you know the wife of a Marquess? If you know, please let us know or Beth will just start making up pronunciations.
Also, who is the actual hero in this book?
Are there levels of ruin in the Regency period? Was wearing pants in public really as bad as say. . .getting caught in passionate embrace? And why are the ways to "fix" the problem so varied?
Finally, and most importantly, why does this newly married couple end up having a 10 person house party during their honeymoon . . . were these people invited? And why did they stay for so long?
