In Part 1 of this two part series, Toni chats with Odion Welch and Simone Saunders to discuss issues around mental health and the unique experiences that Black people have with mental health. Toni seeks out answers on how systemic racism and inter-generational trauma affects racialized individuals, the stigmas and stereotypes within the Black community, and how different cultures view and respond to mental health.

Odion Welch is the mental health youth coordinator for The Africa Centre in Edmonton, and best selling author of her book 'Breakthrough.' Simone Saunders is the founder of the Cognitive Corner, viral mental health TikTok content creator, and holds a Master's in Clinical Social Work, with a specialization in trauma.
