When we read the Christmas story in Luke 2 we read of an angel bringing good news for all people. But this wasn't just a general statement made so that we could read about it 2000 years later. When this message came to the shepherds that night in the fields outside of Bethlehem, the Angel was speaking specifically to these shepherds. This was good news for them, and a sign would be given, specifically for them. How incredible it must have been for the outcast shepherds to arrive a the stable and find that this messiah wasn't just for the religious elite, but this was a savior for them.
