After Jesus was buried the Chief Priests and Pharisees got together to make sure that the disciples couldn't steal the body of Jesus and create an elaborate hoax of his resurrection. They believed this deception and people believing Jesus was alive would be worse than him never having been crucified. They had no idea, that an actual resurrection was possible...and they had no idea what an actual resurrection meant for those who believed.
