When we look at the book of Ruth we often focus on the faithfulness of Ruth to her mother in law, or the Boaz' generous response to the young widow, as models for our behavior. But what if this story reveals to us more than just some moral characteristics that we should try and imitate? What if Holy Spirit included the story of Ruth and Boaz in the genealogy of Jesus because in it we can see different levels of relationship with our God and we can see that in this coming savior Jesus Christ about to be born, God is revealing that he wants us to be more than His servants, that he is actually offering us sonship? This week we follow the journey of Ruth to discover that God is offering us more!
