According to the California Attorney General’s Office there
were on average 450 missing children in Riverside County last year. There are many factors on why teens run away from home including online enticement, bullying, family conflict, pregnancy, to be with a friend or romantic interest, gang involvement, sexual abuse, or lack of acceptance of gender identity or sexual orientation. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children states that 77% of runaways were between 15-17 years old.
For over ten years, Million Kids has operated Million Kids
Missing Kids. This service is designed to assist law enforcement and support
families in the first critical hours when a child goes missing. We have sent out millions of flyers and been involved in helping the family locate the victim and in some cases, bringing the child home. This weekend was one of those situations as we assisted a family in another state to help law enforcement to locate and rescue a young lady who went missing.
Your generous donations make this possible and we thank
you.
This week we will talk about why kids leave home and what
needs to be done immediately to enlist the publics help in locating your child.
Additionally we will talk about just how well you know your child and how to create a social media contract that will help keep your kids safe online so they will not be tempted to meet up with a stranger they met online.
