Getting ready for classes to begin and more information about the Imaike area.
Well summer vacation is winding down and it’s time to get back to school. It’s always a pleasure to welcome back students and especially this year with all the difficulties in the world. I hope that everyone has been able to take advantage of the presumably more time at home and have made just as many summer memories as you did prior to Covid. Let’s all listen to the experts and do what we can and hopefully sooner than later things will get better.
Well now I’d like to talk a little bit more about the area around NCFL. First NCFL is located in the Chikusa-ward of Nagoya city in an area called Imaike. Imaike has two-subway lines that make commuting to our school really easy and we are just a short walk from Imaike station. In recent years the Imaike area has developed greatly and many more businesses and shops are choosing the Imaike area to set up. This has made an impact on the area and you can see many more younger workers especially around the station area. Which in turn has led to the increased selection of restaurants to choose from and believe me there is quite a variety of places to eat. My personal favorite is Craft Sandwich and you will often see me enjoying a great meal sitting at my window seat.
In addition to this there are also two supermarkets that offer many great lunch options for everyone to choose from. Also located very close to NCFL is a 7-11 convenience store or as they say in Japanese combini. Japanese combini are famous for their superior quality and reasonable pricing. Almost next door to NCFL is a donut shop called Mr. Donuts and for those who enjoy coffee there is a Doutor coffee shop too. Imaike also boasts to have two 100-yen shops and a Don Quijote shop that sells just about everything under the sun. The city of Nagoya has taken notice of this popularity of Imaike and is in the process of beautifying the sidewalks and improving bicycle safety for everyone. A closer look near the station and you will find public art designed by a famous New Yorker and a variety of animal statues like giraffes and elephants. If the history of this area is your thing then look no further then the statues of horses located near the post office that explain the history of Imaike and how horses use to roam around and quench their thirst at the lake that was in the area. Today’s English tip!
Simply writing words down on paper. Nowadays it is convenient to do everything on our phones and computer however sometimes to engage your mind I encourage you to write down vocabulary words on paper every once in awhile and if you do this on a consistent basis your English will surely improve.
The next open campus at NCFL is almost here and I look forward to seeing you then.
