I want you to imagine something.
You’re about to give a speech. It’s your moment. The room is quiet. All eyes are on you. And the first thing out of your mouth is:“I’m not really the best person to talk about this…”Or maybe:“Honestly, I’m probably going to ramble a bit, but here goes…”
Why do we do that? Why, when it’s time to lead, do we disqualify ourselves before we even begin?
That’s not humility. That’s self-deprecation. And today I’m calling it what it really is:
Self-defecation. Yeah, I said it. We’re going there.
