Kendall speaks about New Year's Resolutions.

Yesterday we welcomed Dr. Jonathan Cook who joined our English Department. Dr. Cook has taught at the secondary school and college levels. His enormous scholarship compliments his teaching of American literature. He is a literary scholar, educator, and musician born in Washington, DC, raised in the Hudson Valley of New York.

He has a B.A. from Harvard College and a Ph.D. from Columbia University. His primary field of concentration as a literary scholar is nineteenth-century American literature, and he is a specialist in the writings of Herman Melville. He has published an extensive roster of books, articles, and reviews and recorded numerous one-hour podcasts on selected American and English literary works, available on YouTube and SoundCloud. A long-time guitar and mandolin player, he has composed several original works for the steel-string acoustic guitar. But what the students thought was really interesting today is that he actually attended Woodstock in 1969 as a young teenager.
