I thank God that His mercy is not like Commodus’ mercy. God’s mercy is free! When the LORD told Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy,” He was revealing to Moses, and to us, that we cannot earn God’s mercy. In His sovereignty, God gives His mercy freely. And because of what Jesus did on the cross to eradicate our sin, God’s new covenant with mankind means anyone who accepts Jesus as their Savior and Lord receives His unbreakable mercy once for all time.
