Scott Coker has been around the fight game for decades. Originally a martial arts student, he moved into fight promotion and became internationally known with his combat brand Strikeforce, starting out with kickboxing bouts and transitioning into mixed martial arts (MMA).
Strikeforce was eventually bought out by the UFC, and Scott sat on the sidelines until he was given the opportunity to become the new Bellator MMA President in 2014.
We discuss how he’s reinvigorated the Bellator brand, while reminiscing about the golden age of MMA including K-1, Pride Fighting Championships, the introduction of women’s fighting, and many of the names he built up through Strikeforce who would go on to become global superstars including Fedor Emelianenko, Daniel Cormier, Luke Rockhold, Tyron Woodley, the Diaz brothers, Cung Le, Cristiane "Cyborg", and Gina Carano.
