Odds and Ends: We’re feeling very patriotic (and hungry) this week, not for any particular timely reason or anything. T.J. watched a lot of stuff this week, and he talks about pretty much all of it. From the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, to Sean Baker’s Red Rocket, to the Nicolas Cage movie that has that title you’ll forget if I say it here, to the new Top Gun. Nick also watched some Cage movies, naturally. There Won’t Be Nick reveals some sinister truths beneath the Duds surface, and we are scared.
Feature film: Vittorio De Sica’s Italian neorealist classic, Bicycle Thieves, which totally ripped off Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. A timeless story about class struggle and governments failing their citizens. Fun stuff like that. Featuring zero gabagool but plenty of hand pinching and arm waving, not to mention a very cheesy sandwich, this movie has earned its place in cinematic history. Definitely for just those reasons and nothing else.
