Andrei Zorin is a Professor and Chair of Russian, Fellow of New College at the University of Oxford, and the Professor and the Academic Director of the program "Public History: Historical Knowledge in Modern Societies” at the Moscow School of Economics and Social Sciences (Shaninka). He received his degree of Ph. D. in 1983 and Habilitation in 2001 from Moscow State University. Since the early 1990s, he has taught as visiting professor and lecturer at Harvard, Stanford, NYU, University of Michigan Ann Arbor, University of California- Berkley, University of Helsinki (Finland), L’Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (Paris) a.o. Andrei has given keynote talks papers at many international conferences in Russia, UK, USA, France, Italy, Austria, etc. He is the author and co-author of several books on Russian literature and culture. His recent book Leo Tolstoy (Critical Lives) has been shortlisted for Pushkin Prize, given in Britain for the best book about Russia in 2020. His research interests: Russian Literature and Cultural History of XVIII early XIX centuries in European Context. Russian Literature and Ideology. Cultural History of Emotions. Late Soviet and Post-Soviet Literature.
