Regular listeners will be glad to hear that this week’s episode doesn’t contain any of Tony’s melodic efforts-after we received numerous contacts and complaints after his opening to last week’s show!
This week we discuss the drama on the field, and utter nonsense off it, from the weekend’s Premier League football matches, and then look back on a fantastic start to an 11-day feast of sport with the European Championships, and the 10 different sports involved.
We also review the closing stages of Rugby’s Super League season, with Saint Helens having secured a semi final play off place with 4 games to go, and Wakefield boosting their hopes of avoiding relegation with a vital win over Wigan.
Our first guest is Swinda Falkena. When Swinda is not studying atmospheric circulation regimes as part of her PhD research she can be found playing football for Wokingham Ladies FC and competing in marathon and ultramarathon running races. Swinda chats with us about completing the South Downs 100km race this summer, as well as getting around the country to watch a number of the women’s European Championship football matches.
Friend of the show and regular guest John Peacock returns – but rather than wearing his pilates instructor hat, John joins us to talk about his beloved Brentford, as we make Tony relive Manchester United’s 4-0 hammering at the hands of “The Bees”!
