EPISODE 34: Many families who have children with disabilities require support because of the extra demands they face as parents. Respite care is a time when someone else cares for the child to give the family a short break.
Family Respite Services provides this service by assisting families to recruit a trained caregiver. This short break can also be a time for the child with a disability to participate in community activities and make new friends. It is a time when the parents can spend time with their other children, rest, or catch up on errands.
Respite/short break care is a vital service for families, helping to strengthen and support the family so that they can continue to care for their child at home.
My guest is the fundraising driving force for Family Respite Services in YQG and will talk about a major project to benefit families in Windsor Essex.
I am happy to welcome Alexandria Fischer from FRS to the show!
