"Ask and You Shall Receive"....
In episode #8 "Do You Hate Asking for Help?" (Which is my highest rated episode), I decided to do another episode, #16 titled, "Do You Hate Asking for Help Still?".
This episode is my follow-up to actually asking for help and what ensued afterward. :)
I was in a bind last year financially and I asked for all kinds of help. I was my own "agent" and I vouched for myself, and I was 'ahead of the game'.
I asked for anything and everything from delayed payment plans to paying twice the following month to asking family to borrow and even though it was excruciating for me to ask, guess what? I got the help that I wanted and then some!
Don't get me wrong. I felt like a capital "L"oser and a failure and everything else. But after I quit feeling sorry for myself and started 'advocating' for myself, I realized I'm not a loser, I'm human, everyone gets into a bind sometimes and that I'm paying everyone back.
I then started to hold my head up high and to not let this money situation make me feel so incompetent.
And that again, if I were to put the shoe on the other foot...I wouldn't judge that person and I would help in a heartbeat!
In addition, I remembered that I'm not the type of person that likes to ask for help period so when I do, you better believe it's because I really need it! I'm not a "cry wolf" type of person.
So when I realized all this, I then focused on paying the money back and getting up to speed with my payments which wasn't too long after...just a couple of months at the longest! All of the dread and angst and 'not' asking for help that I would usually do was resolved by asking for help in the matter of a few minutes.
As I said before...my "asking muscle" is getting stronger and stronger with each ask. Go, me! And if I can ask, you can too! :)
