Maria tells me all about the mission that MLF is on, giving women in Malawi, Zimbabwe & Zambia the chance to become financially independent and change the lives of future generations!
By providing financial support in the form of small loans, coupled with unparalleled group training and business support, MLF is helping to facilitate the economic growth of some of the poorest parts of the world, enabling women to set up their own businesses.
Maria talks passionately about her work, her dedication is unbelievable! She talks fondly about Mrs Mkonde, an inspirational lady who has been helped by the charity, a lady who was at one point unable to provide sufficient nutritious meals and schooling for her children. However with the business training, small loan of just £22, and support of Micro Loan Foundation, she has transformed her life, that of her children and incredibly that of her entire community!! Growing her business, Mrs Mkonde now employs multiple staff and is making a huge change in her community!!
We talk about the amazing ways that MLF are supporting the ladies in sub Saharan Africa by being fully inclusive and building supportive groups, delivering their training by song, dance and roleplay, whereby enabling even women who cannot read and write the opportunity to learn and grow their business! They promote a strong peer support model where the women are able to make friends and support one another on their business journey.
We chat about the campaign #WhenWomenLead, that MLF are running as part of International Women's Day 2022, her drive to help keep transforming the lives of women and in turn entire communities! The campaign is showcasing incredible business women from around the world and bringing them together to raise awareness.v
Maria chats to me about the many different ways we can get involved by donating, undertaking extreme challenges (white water rafting/running/cycling/climbing) sharing MLF's posts, even just £5 can help transform the lives of these women!
Here at the Yes SHE Can Project it is all about amplifying women's voices, giving them a platform to be heard, sharing their inspiring stories and celebrating their success, which is why when asked to come on board with the campaign that mirrors those values so much I jumped at the chance!
