We talk through the early days of her career as a radio producer, a chance meeting with Peter Sissons at a barbecue started her on the road to becoming a talent agent!
Moving from agency to agency, gaining valuable experience & contacts along the way, Julia took the plunge on setting up her very own agency Champion Talent in 2010.
Having had extensive experience as a producer previously set her in good stead for her new venture, as she understood the industry from both angles!
Julia talks me through a day in the life of an agent, from the glitz and glamour of attending the the Baftas, NTA's and charity events, through to the frustration of clients not returning her calls!
We chat about the qualities that make a good agent, the importance of being invested in your clients and keeping the agency small enough to deal with each and every person on her books personally, being good with money, having excellent negotiating skills and at times LOTS of patience!!
Julia undertakes PR also for a wealth of clients from TV Presenters, charities, businesses and experts such as GP's and psychologists. Recalling the time when she was doing PR for Gogglebox's Steph & Dom, Julia tells me how everyone from This Morning, Loose Women, Good Morning Britain and pretty much every women's magazine and broadsheet were desperate to work with them!
It's abundantly clear that Julia has such passion for her work, even telling me that she will NEVER retire and be an agent until the day she dies!
Such a beautiful lady inside and out, Julia is a testament to the industry and for me personally has been amazingly supportive and kind, it is clear to see how much she loves her job and loves to help people succeed 💕
