Description

Before they gave us The Matrix (1999), the Wachowski siblings burst onto the scene with the steamy lesbian neo-noir, Bound (1996). Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly play Corky, an ex-con, and Violet, the girlfriend of an unstable mobster named Caesar. Immediately drawn to one another, Corky and Violet begin an affair and decide to run away together. But first, they hatch a plan to bamboozle the mob out of $2 million. What could go wrong? Bound is an excellent addition to our queer cinema compendium! It's a movie that asks important questions that are still relevant to this day: Is plumbing actually a sexy profession? Is Joe Pantoliano daddy? Is this Jennifer Tilly's greatest film performance? Do you know what the difference between Corky and Violet is? We don't either. For this week's miniseries installment, we take a look at two iconic performances from the 1996 adaptation of The Birdcage: Nathan Lane's Albert/Starina and Hank Azaria's Agador Spartacus.
