How does God want to meet and grow us in this Christmas season, when we remember him growing in a young teenager's womb and transforming the Divine Unseen to the Holy God-in-Flesh? Join us in anticipation of our Savior being born!
Week 1 of Growing Advent
Teacher: Tyler Stibrich
When Mary is visited by an angel, it kickstarts one of the most epic stories of human history. It would be awesome to have this kind of revelation in your life. But if we're honest, we're often actually afraid of revelation. In any divine annunciation, you receive revelation as a gift, but at the same time you receive notice that all you had planned is ending. Everything will change–most of all you. And the rub of revelation is that it’s a transformation you’re not in charge of.
Revelation is a hard gift to receive. You must give up everything else to receive it– like finding a treasure in a field and selling everything you have so you can get that treasure. But then again, the one who is willing to accept the cost of revelation finds themselves in the deepest of stories. Stories that are so mysterious, divine, and human that we still tell them today. May you receive the light of divine annunciation in the flames of your best-laid plans.
