Description

Gun violence, suicide, rape culture, naked aggression and war...the world is not well. And it’s not just in big areas, it’s in small ones too. Much of what our generation calls “culture,” Jesus and the writers of the Bible call “the world,” one of the three enemies of the soul - along with the flesh, and the devil - spoken of by ancient apprentices of Jesus. Join Damascus Road for World on Fire because we need to learn to be in the world but not of it, to be a city on a hill pointing the way to a whole different way to live.

Week 1 of World On Fire
Teacher: Brad Miller

There seems to be a way of the world that everyone else is following, and it can appear good and lovely on first glance, but all that glitters is not gold. When we look at social media and the culture around us it seems that very few are dissenting. And when they do they are attacked, not just by those who radically disagree but even by those who only differ by degree. The Bible calls this “the world” – a system of ideas, values, practices and social norms that are institutionalized into a culture that is organized around rebellion against God and the redefinition of good and evil. How do we keep from getting assimilated by the world?
